I was hesitant at first to purchase this lens, because I have the focal range with my 70-200mm 2.8 IS II (along with a set of Kenko ext tubes), but I gotta say after just some quick test shots at work in low light, I am blown away with this lens. I am now wondering if I have focus issues with my other 2 lenses? Seriously!

I know the pics attached don't do the lens any justice, (but everyone always asked for pics) but for low light and hand held @ low shutter speeds, I'm extremely impressed. A lot of the test pics I took (oh don't say it) have a 3D look to them. I can't wait to use this lens outdoors with some real subjects and normal lighting conditions.

These are just jpg's right out of the camera.

Since I got my 100 L macro last summer, it has been my favourite lens. Try shooting some portraits with it. The results are sure to please.

Put the right glass on the 7D, and it is amazing what the camera can record!

Congrats on the purchase.

Isn't that the truth. Seriously. I love my other 2 lenses, but I don't think they are any where near as sharp on the 7D. (Who knows, I could be wrong)

It's a great lens for sure! I have to say, I'm impressed with the sharpness of that first image – hand-held at 1/30? Wow.

That's why I was thinking! I don't remember getting pics like that with my 70-200.

This is on my short list of potential next lenses. I am also considering kenko extension tubes but it's hard not to pull this trigger on this at $886 when it was $1050 a month or so ago.

Convince me! lol

I was in the exact same boat and after asking for advice, It was a unanimous decision, especially at 886.00 (and the fact my GF bought me this lens for my Bday & Christmas present), it was a no brainer. :)

I have used extension tubes with both my other lenses, But I can already tell just by taking some quick pics, they simply don't compare.

What thread wouldn't be complete without the pic of the lens cap. (just took this while stting in my office) :)
