Hi guys,

I am trying to see if the below is a good deal for $1500.00

Compact 600 (250W modeling light)
-Compact Plus 600 (250W modeling light)
-Compact 300 (150W modeling light)
-(2) Profoto Zoom Reflectors
-(2) spare modeling lamps (150W, 250W)
-(2) Custom Tenba Air Cases -

This will be my first kit purchase and I want to make sure that I make the right choice as I am still learning and lighting and studio flash is very new to me. I understand that the compacts are a discontinued line but for someone who is a new to strobes, will this be a good start?

Thank you.

This is a nice kit, but for someone who is starting i would advice to get a kit with some modifiers (at least umbrella's). Profoto is a awesome brand, but will end up costing you much more than the 1500$ you're starting with.

Look at Elinchrom to get more bang for your buck.

Here is the thing, I went ahead and already bought modifiers before the lights. I purchased two chimera 24x32" softboxes and Chimera 36x48" softbox with grids and 41" soft white umbrella and three lightstands. I need lights to make use of modifiers now.

At the moment, I am thinking if the above deal I posted is good at $1500.00 or can I get that for a better price?

Did you already buy the speed rings? If not, then those modifiers can be used with any strobes.

Martin shoots with Elinchrom. Which speed rings were included?

Right, so I'm confused. If you have the speed rings then you also have inserts an since Martin shoots Elinchrom, the inserts are for Elinchrom.

If you purchased just the speed rings with no inserts then all you have to do is get the appropriate insert for the strobes you're using.

Sorry for the confusion but yes the speedrings I have are for Elinchrom strobes. I will just need to purchase the speedrings for the profotos strobes separately if I decide to go with the above package and that is what I am trying to find out if $1500.00 is a good price for them?

do they have the built in pocket wizards? I have 2 compact 600 and i love them. the speed rings for them are a little pricy but you can find them for around $89 each. now all you need is a good light meter.

good luck and have fun

It doesnt have wireless pocket wizards. I am looking at other accessories for profoto and yes they are quite pricey. The seller mentioned if I buy the kit he will include the chimera speedring with quick release. I think I will pull the plug and go for it.

Buy two or three Elinchrom BXRi with either 250 or 500Ws and a Skyport transmitter. Costs you ~1500 USD new.

I wouldn´t buy a used kit for that price.

Cheers, Zwicko
