Hawk-002-12222011.jpg
Was thinking this was a juvenile Red-tailed but it may be a coopers hawk instead.

I'm not good at identification but I think that looks more like a Coopers Hawk to me. being a juvenile it's harder to tell. I love the clarity of the hawk and the background blur. What settings were you using? Sony a300 Sony: 50/f1.8 | 18-55/f3.5 | 18-70/f3.5

Wow, im just impressed seeing a decent picture from ISO-1250...my camera would create so much noise. I wish I knew someone with a Canon who lived nearby. I'd love to see how much of a difference that could make with my shots. Sony a300 Sony: 50/f1.8 | 18-55/f3.5 | 18-70/f3.5

Just take a memory card with you and shoot some pics (raw IMO) of the same scene then bring the memory card home to compare. Never had a camera store that wouldn't allow me to do that. Jason

The thing with canon is you have to try and stack as much as the scene to the right of the histogram. If you underexpose at all, you will pay a price with noise. That is especially true of the 18mp crop sensors (t2i, t3i, 60D, 7D). Not meaning to turn this into an equipment thread, but that's a good idea. I might have to try that. My Sony seems to generate lots of noise at anything over ISO-800, over OR under exposed. Sony a300 Sony: 50/f1.8 | 18-55/f3.5 | 18-70/f3.5
