Lightroom printing .01 margin

I can't seem to figure this out, I just started to print with Lightroom (3) and I always get stuck with a .01 margin, and I can't change the cell size to 100%, it is always something like 7.98x9.98.

Why can't I make it 0 0 0 0 margin and full 8x10. Driving me nuts.

Have you checked your printer driver? If you don't specify "borderless"/"full bleed", that can interfere...

Borderless is selected. I am using the right paper size, if I manually try to change margin it says ".01 minimum" if I try to change print size slider by entering number in box it says "a number from .25 to 7.98 required".

I can get it to work sometimes, but it always starts at .98 instead of the full number and the right and bottom always has a .01 border no matter what, it may start at .25 but when I bring it to zero it stops at .01 only for right/bottom. Top & left are at 0, that's what is causing the Cell Size not to go to a full 8x10. But I don't know what is causing it.

Even if I create my own template, I can't get a full 8x10.

I also made sure zoom to fit and rotate to fit is turned off.

Interesting, I changed to the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 II driver and it works.
I was using the XPS driver, as I read this is the best driver for this printer. I installed both print drivers.

Anyone know specifically what the difference is with this driver?

The non-XPS has some print optimizer options under the effects tab that doesn't exist when using XPS driver.

From what I understand the XPS driver is 16 bit where as the regular one is only 8 bit.

How did you change the driver? My 9500 does the same thing.

It defaults to installing the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 II driver, but there is an option you can download from the website the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 II XPS driver, I read this allows 16 bit printing and better when used with Easy Photo Print Pro. So I updated the stock driver and installed the XPS and just used it right from the start. Out of kicks, I tried the non-XPS as I know margins are set by the driver, and bam it gave me 0, 0, 0, 0 as I needed.

So not sure what is going on with the XPS driver, but it won't let me do 0,0,0,0, it does 0, 0.01, 0, 0.01

I create Borderless Print Presets in the Template Browser which is located on the left side of the Print Module. Since I usually use common sized paper (such as 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 8.5x11...) and print at 360 ppi, this turns the process into a one-click setup for the print configuration. For example, I created a Template Preset in a folder called "Borderless" and named it "4x6-360ppi". I also do this for the other common paper sizes.

I'll guide you through the process for configuring a Borderless 4x6-360ppi Print & how to create a Preset so you don't have to reconfigure everytime you want to change paper sizes.

- choose an image that is cropped to the proper aspect ratio (4x6)
- open the Print Module
- click on "Page Setup" in the lower left corner of the Print Module
- the "Print Setup" dialogue box will open
- select 4x6 as the paper size in the "Print Setup"
- choose the printer that you intend to use and configure its "Properties"
- click OK and close the dialogue boxes
- go over to the right column
- expand the Layout Style and choose "Single Image/Contact Sheet"
- expand Image Settings and check "Zoom to Fill" & "Rotate to Fit"
- expand Layout and set all Margins to "0.00" & Cell Sizes to maximum (6.00x4.00)
- expand guides and check all of the boxes (it makes it easier to visualize)
- expand Print Job and check "Print Resolution" and set to 360ppi
- I'll let you figure out the Color Management settings, it's too involved

Now that everything is configured for a Borderless 4x6-360ppi Print, I'll show you how to create a Preset in the Template Browser on the left side.

- expand the Template Browser and left-click on one of the folders to highlight it
- right-click on it again to open a New Folder tab and click to open dialogue box
- type in "Borderless Print Presets" and click Create
- Highlight the folder you just created in the Template Browser
- a minus (-) & a plus (+) appear just to the right of "Template Browser"
- click the plus symbol (+) and a "New Template" dialogue box will appear
- type "4 x 6- 360ppi" in the Template Name
- choose "Borderless Print Presets" as the Folder
- click Create and it's done

Repeat the process for all of the paper sizes/types/profiles..​. that you use and you will have one-click Custom Presets.

I found out the problem, it was the XPS driver for some reason forces a .01 right and bottom margin, even with Borderless printing selected.

Using the non-XPS version of the driver seems to solve the problem.

Well I would still like to know why the XPS driver refused to do 0 margins on right and bottom, but I have a work around (using the base driver instead).
