Panasonic compacts are usually decent, cheapest would be Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FS16 $101 and you can get it in red.

I'd vote for the Canon 100HS, just over $100 right now, and for just a little more, I'd really recommend the Canon 300HS, a very decent P&S that's quite pocketable too and with a 24mm wide angle, that's handy in a small camera.

Umm..He's Sick, My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious……

If you really mean it, I'd agree about the A100. Otherwise, from another thread:

I'm giving my wife a S95 for x-mas and can't wait to use it

It pains me to think how many of us you just described :{)#

I am in this same group :)

Get her an S100, or other high-end you'd love to use. After all, even if she doesn't use it as much as you'd like, at least it'll be something you want to use.

Cheap cheap cheap?? A buddy of mine asked me the same question a few weeks ago before a trip to Arizona...I told him Canon A800. He picked it up ($80 in Canada, brand new)...he loved it.

Yes, well, my wife's SD600 is the only camera we have that doesn't take SDHC memory and it uses a different battery from all the other cameras so imagine how tempted I am to get "her" an S100, which uses the same battery as the SD990 and SX230. :{)#

Think she'd notice if I swapped the S230 and the S100?

Another vote on any of the new HS cameras, the CMOS sensor is great it's really not worth cheaping out on $30 or something when you will take a huge hit in image quality.
