GIVE a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. TEACH a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

Thanks, I got the housing used on ebay for my 20D, and bought the strobe and arm (a DS-51) from a dive site classified. Still trying to figure out what lens port to get. I think I am going to start with my 17-40, just need to decide whether to get the cheap 6" dome that doesn't allow for diopter filters, or spring for the 8" dome. Believe me I really have no idea what I am doing at this point so any advice is appreciated. The housing seems to work well, I put my camera in there and played with all the knobs, I am amazed how well they construct these things. .

I haven't used an Ikelite housing but I have friends who have and they are a good housing if looked after (but that is the same for all housings). Can I suggest that once you have your ports etc that you take it for a test dive without your camera in it and test all the buttons etc to make sure there is no leaks etc. Make it a reasonably deep one - 10 - 20 m - and pretend that you are taking photos etc.

It is beter to find a leak then rather than once you have your camera in it. Plus the reason for taking to depth is because that's where you will be taking most of you photos from so you need to test it under normal operating depths therefore testing at the right pressure is important.

Also as it seems you are knew to UWP get hold of a copy of Martin Edge's books either Edition 3 or 4 and this will help you.

Thanks for the book reccomendation, I have a few already but I will look into that.

I definitely plan to take it down and test all the seals before I put a camera in there and take it under, but thanks for mentioning it.

I have the 8" Dome which I use with a Sigma 18-50 and a pair of Ikelite DS161 strobes.

Here is what you can look forward to

Now I am getting somewhere. Need to give her a trial run in the pool this weekend (first without a camera inside!).

LOL I was looking at the left side of the image trying to figure out what was going on with the grip and then I realized that the faucet was behind the shutter grip but it made it look like it was part of the set up lol
