What are some cheap low aperature lenses I could get?

For my primary lenses I use the Canon 17-85 and 50mm on my T3i


I am looking to add to my collection of lenses mostly for video purposes and so on.


What are some lenses that will work with Canon that can be bought for fairly cheap?

I am looking into something like a 14mm or maybe 135mm? I know that they will probably be old but I don't know what to look into.

have you looked at the 50 f/1.8? Since video does not demand on a lens as much as a photograph does the 50 f/1.8 would be an option with the 50 f/1.4 being a better choice but more expensive. There are some older Pentax lenses that will work with an adapter that can be had for real cheap.

35 f2, 85 1.8 and 100 f2 are all reasonably priced and well worth taking a look at.

It seems like you are looking for a wide range of focal lengths. Are there any specific rangers youre looking for more, so we can help you out a little bit better.

The pentacon 135mm 2.8 is a great buy, not too expensive, but manual focus only. M42 mount, easily adaptable to canon, great IQ, aptly named "bokeh monster" with 15 aperture blades.

Look at Samyang /Rokinon lenses. They are manual focus lenses that are great for filming on a budget.

For video, I wouldn't be too worried about photo IQ or AF. Get an EF 35-80mm or, for under a hundred bucks, an m42-to-ef adapter and an old m42 mount lens that has a decent focus ring and renders nice colors (e.g., quick google search finds a Pentacoat 30mm). 18-55mm works as well.

I was looking for lenses with low aperature for shooting in low light conditions.

During the day or evening the 17-85 works perfect.


50mm is all I got for low light right now but its a bit long zoom on a crop body

why don't you look at m42 mount MF lenses...you won't find a 14mm though...pretty sure the only 14mm that you'll find cheaply is the samyang...
