I got my lighting equipment a couple months back, but never had any free time to play with it (our house was getting renovated, and work was killing me...)

My wife is due in a little less than a month, so we decided to do a quick maternity session tonight... well what do you know.. my cyber commander and trigger batteries are dead... no light meter (on the cyber commander)... and no replacement batteries... I ended up using the PC sync cord, and shooting tethered...

Our living room isn't that big, so I have to do a little PS to help clean up the backgrounds a bit here's a early sample... CC is welcome (posing, lighting, everything...)
(edit: also thought i'd make things more complicated and tried to include our golden retriever in a couple...)

Lovely, soft half-lighting. Dog is gorgeous. Lovely set of images.

Nice shots. I would challenge you to try to increase the contrast using ps. Great work overall. And congrats daddy.

Thanks for the comments. My wife was pleased with them, so I am as well, especially since she ok'd my purchase of my lighting equipment a couple months ago.

My next big challenge will be newborn photos... However, we do have a backup plan for that (my wife has a pro scheduled)....

Thanks again and merry christmas!

Shooting him was a challenge... He's our almost 2 year old golden retriever... He is quite wiggly, and doesn't stay still for very long...

That last shot was just one of those that everything happened just right (lighting angle, wife and dog in the right pose...). I wish I could have gotten a couple more shots off, and one more from a different angle, but oh well...

Thanks again for all the kind comments...

Generally, you see the father's head down towards the womb. That's why I thought it was genius mimicking that pose with the dog. Again, love the pics!

Not sure what you mean. I did edit these a bit in photoshop to adjust contrast and to remove some distracting background objects (I have a small living room I shot in, and I couldn't completely control the light from my soft box).

Original

vs

Photoshopped

(adjusted some contrast, and got rid of distracting background at bottom left corner area)

I just used my 7D, and one PCB Einstein 640ws with a 24x36 softbox to up and to the right of my wife

shot at iso 100, f10, 1/250

Lovely shots... Good luck with the delivery. I hope you have a healthy baby with minimal discomfort for your wife.
