Wonderful shots Rudi, lovely scenery with the comet backdrop.

Nicely done. Will give it a go tomorrow if the clouds keep away

I tried to do just that this morning (even had another great idea for the foreground), but the sky was completely overcast. :(

Another morning of cloud cover! :(

Woke up bright and early this morning, since comet Lovejoy is moving away from the Sun and rising earlier every morning. Looked it up on Starry Night Pro the night before, and saw that the ISS was making another pass around 3:16 am, so was all ready for another great photo op. Unfortunately, the local weather is very un-Christmaslike at the moment, the sky was overcast in all directions.

Another try tomorrow...

Thanks, Jeff! :)

I haven't even glimpsed the comet since, it's been overcast every morning since then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another sighting tomorrow morning, but apparently Lovejoy is fading quickly, so I'm not quite sure what I'm going to get.

If you guys could all keep your fingers crossed, or whatever you have to do to help me get some clear skies tomorrow morning, your efforts would be very much appreciated! ;)

UPDATE: Friday, 30 December 2011

There was a lot of sea spray and haze around this morning, and the sky was not as dark as it could have been as a result. Even so, comet Lovejoy is fading quickly. It is struggling not to blend into the Milky Way background now:

Wow. Look how long that tail is !
The good news is that it's going to be moving out of the Milky Way towards the LMC so there may still be some shots left in it yet. Bad news (for me anyway), rain for the next week. :(
