I'm interested in getting a photo booth as I have seen some of these at some weddings and events I have covered over the past year or so. So I figure if I can get one half of the gig surely I can get the other half and make abit more ;)

Is there anyone here that has one in the UK or USA that has any tips, tricks or which one to go with? Also I know that they have been around longer in USA is it true you can make over 20k a year with only one of these things?

Finally if you do have one how much do you charge and how long for?

Thanks :)

There are MANY types of photobooths out there, and a long thread in the wedding section about them: https://photography-on-the.net …?t=786216&highlight=booth

There are also many things to consider:

  • Photographer or automated system?
  • Prints or no prints?
  • How are you going to show the photos? Back of the camera, monitor, TV?
  • Enclosed booth or open air?
  • Build your own or buy a premade one?

There are many more options, but its hard to help without more clarification. Its like searching on the internet for "new car".

@Pixel Boy

Getting a photo booth is one of the best things I've done to generate more money for my business. One unexpected thing it has done for me is help me promote my other service, as a wedding dj. A lot of people in my area (St. Louis, MO) are searching online for a photo booth rental to have at their wedding. What''s another thing needed at a wedding? A disc jockey (DJ). So I have been picking up some great DJ gigs in addition to my photo booth rentals. I basically cross promote my services on each of my websites.

So for you it's the same thing, Every wedding always needs a photographer. However, there are TONS of photographers (in my area anyway) that are all competing for the small amount of weddings. But, there are not near as many photo booth companies so it is a lot easier to find business for that and to ALSO offer your services as a wedding photographer to those same people looking for a photo booth (since they'll be needing a wedding photographer anyway).

For a wedding or any other type of event, I'm charging around $700 for a 4-hour rental. I do everything all inclusive, unlimited prints during that 4 hours. If I'm dj'ing the event, I'll have a photobooth attendant assisting guests and keeping the line running smoothly. Honestly, (and I'm not just saying this because it's my photo booth) the photo booth rental ALWAYS ends up being the hit of the event.

If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer :)
