Just to quickly clarify, both. Shot pics for newspapers in L.A., came to N.C. to be an assistant editor of a magazine and book publisher.
Ok i stand corrected . I'm just going by what you had as an opening on your website ,
(quote):
"I have been a photographer for over 40 years. Born and raised in Southern California, I shot pictures for three Los Angeles area newspapers. But my real passion was for fine art photography. (quote) .
Yer' right.
And also for the record, telescope is long gone. You probably never heard of it, but I had a Cave Astrola newtonian. Mirror hand-ground by Tom Cave. Long ago and far away. But I would, too, like to get back into it. I never mounted a camera then. Most certainly would like to now. Biggest problem I see is what I had in L.A. way back then. The scoping is fun, but driving for hours to get away from city lights is not. It makes it too much of an ordeal.
Over the years i have heard of Tom Cave several times actually . Been along time tho .

, I've been interested in astronomy since the 60s' but bought my first serious scope in 97' . Just that i had to work too much to really make it a daily hobby . But enjoyed it i have . Stayed up many a nights all night long just scopin or taking astro images or watching meteor showers . Had alot of fun and shot more than 500,000 images but very few i have ever kept but half is on film stored away . Started out with a Pentax K1000 SLR and before digital came into astronomy i got a Olympus OM-1SLR . Still have both for the passion and both still work like brand new . But haven't used them since i bought my D300 back around 93' or 94' , can't remember which . But got some good glass for the Pentax and just a 50mm for the OM-1 but it's a great camera ! Yep i still love the hobby , but i enjoy what i'm doing now even more !
