I started having some issues with the program last night where some of the tool bars were missing and then the colors of the layout were different but then this morning the program wouldnt work. It said that I had a trial version and it had run out and then closes. I emailed the company, they replied back quickly but still nothing has solved the problem. I have the machinery.k3 file in the folder but still I get the screen "trial version has expired" when I open the program and then it closes. I bought the full version back on 1/6 and never had a problem till now. It did an update at 19:02 am this morning....not sure if it's connected or not. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you run it as adminstrator when installing the program and then when you inserted the key into the machinery folder and restart ? Also when it came up did you see your name as owner ?

I see alot of nice pictures posted that say "created using one image"

My question is are you guys taking one image, then bracketing them in the software to get the effect, or just using one image??

Thanks,

Christian

I usually let the software bracket the single images.

Yes I ran it as admin and did restart. I dont see my name as owner though. I only get the screen that says "trial version has expired". The company told me to rename a the .k3 file but now it says Authorization Key Error. No connection with authorization server.

If you still have the original key not renamed then i would uninstall the program , go to the Machinery sight , download a new version then reinstall and add the key and see if that works .

I had a similar problem. They had to send me a different key and it worked fine with the new key.

Thanks for the replies. We did uninstall then downloaded the program again with the original key and still had the same problems. I asked for a new key but now they are saying my antivirus program is blocking it. What is odd is this problem just popped up Sunday night and nothing changed within my computer at that time except I saw there was an update with Machinery.

Edit......weird that's what it was. I don't know why I never had that issue with AVG before ...why so random?

To be honest, I find the entire licensing procedure to be poorly designed. It appears that keys are being manually emailed. If so, it's dysfunctional potential is great. What if, for whatever reason, the person on the other end is not responsive - on vacation, sick, it's a holiday, etc.? You could be in the middle of a project and theoretically find yourself waiting for days for a key.

I agree. Doesn't make sense considering that it functioned correctly for a time then stopped when no changes were made to your system. Is it possible it's a bug and they don't know what is causing it?

Have you tried disabling the anti-virus and testing a number of re-licensing, re-installing procedures? Just to be sure, you might also want to disable any software firewalls running. I say so because I have had Comodo's Defense+ cause problems with one application I run. Good luck.

I can see how it might deter hackers from getting a key and distributing the program for free. That's the problem with small software companies and the main reason why I didn't get into programming. Photography is just as bad if you are a top name photographer and people steal your work.

Yes as I stated above the whole problem was AVG so I disabled it, ran the program and it worked. Whatever update Machinery did Sunday night at 12:02 I think was what caused the problem...ie something changed within itself. I am glad that they were pretty quick to respond to the issue but I did go a day without it missing out on photos I wanted to work on that I took over the weekend. At any rate I'm glad it's working

It doesn't. Manually emailing keys is a low-level licensing procedure.

It's clearly alpha grade software. When it gets to real release level I might be interested in purchasing it.

Double agree: alpha-grade and might consider it. In a former job, I was paid to review software for publication. I'm certainly not going to pay somebody to beta test and debug their software.

When things are finally fixed, the alignment is working properly, and the de-ghosting feature is added, it will be a consideration.

I agree. Yeah, it's got a couple little quirks but I don't think there's been any software that I purchased that was flawless right out of the box.
