Will this head work with it?They all seem to have the base -top part screw on connector. But just checking. It seems to be the better head with the tilt and quick release.

It shows this headunit listed under the monopod under customers bought after viewing comments.

If you had any experience with either please post. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Sure - a ball-head will work, but you might want to check out their monopod head - think it is the 3232. It is pretty affordable, too IIRC. My buddy has that setup and is very happy.

I have just ordered this http://www.manfrotto.com/monopod-quick-release-head (external link) for my mono, I obviously use Manfrotto plates. They also have this http://www.manfrotto.com/monopod-tilt-head (external link) to which you can add what ever plate.

I have not even attempted putting a ball head on a mono....I think that it would just be a floppy hand full of looseness to try to use. I am happy to do a minor crop to level my images, it is difficult to get them straight anyway.

HTH, RAW

I like the Manfrotto swivel head. Use one with my 100-400. Unless you're already invested in Manfrotto QR plates I'd be more inclined to go with he ArcaSwiss standard. Take a look at Kirk. I believe they sell a Manfrotto head mated to one of their QR clamps.

Yup, the Manfrotto 234RC2 will be fine with your gear.

I also have the 234RC paired with a Benro mono. Works great for my needs. As mention above, You may have to do some straightening later.

Yes, the 234RC (the quick release version of the 234 and replacement of the older version 3229) is ALL you'll need when using a monopod. I never could understand why folks use a ball or pan/tilt head on a monopod. For use with a lens without a tripod collar ring you can mount the plate so that EITHER the swivel/tilt is 90 degrees (ie landscape to portrait) OR you could mount the QR plate such that the swivel/tilt provides tilting of the lens up or down. When using on a lens with a tripod collar, the latter method is used as the portrait/landscape positioning is done by rotating within the tripod collar. Typically monopods are used with larger/longer lenses and many of those have tripod collar rings (or should!).

Possibly because the 234RC is no good for heavy lenses. Anything up to the 100-400 seems fine, but heavier than that and all you get is droop.

I don't know why I haven't thought that it can do Portraits. Thanks for pointing it out.
