Looking to buy a S100 for my wife's birthday, so it's good to have this thread for folks to share what they've done with one so far.

My grandson's third birthday. ISO 800, Program mode. I literally took the camera out of the box an hour before the party and had no time to do any reading or fiddling with the settings.

OK, these are all S100 shots I did this afternoon at San Francisco's Pier 70 area. This area was a thriving shipyard from the 1870s through the 1930s, but fell on hard times. Most of the buildings are abandoned today, but there is talk of revitalizing the area. I doubt it will happen, but still... the buildings are interesting.

These were all shot with my new S100 along with the new Benro A-150EXU tripod I got from Amazon. They are extensively post-processed (shot +/- 2EV in RAW, converted to DNG because none of my software understands S100's RAW format, then massaged in PhotoMatix Pro for the HDR stuff, then in photoshop to reduce noise with Noise Ninja and correct lens distortion).

I guess they really aren't about the S100 as much as they are about my being able to capture the feeling I was after when I went out there, with really minimal equipment. It's a pretty powerful little setup!

I like 'em, you may or may not.

Thanks. I *hate* Pier 39. Talk about "Tourist Central". Yechh! I didn't see a soul out at Pier 70, and that's the way I like it.

LOL. my friend had an office on the embarcadero across from 39. we used to eat there a lot, but you're right, it's tourist central. i miss living in the bay area.

jaybee33, are those of the SF Ferry Building and the new park just north of Justin Herman Plaza? Nice work. I am noticing lots of curved distortion in the wide angle area of the S100 though. I did LOTs of distortion correction in PhotoShop on the shots I posted. Yours seems to show the same at the edges of the frame. I guess getting a 24mm equivalent wide angle in such a small camera requires lots of compromises.

iazybandit - first one is ISO1000 and the 2nd is ISO1600, both handheld in AV mode set at F/2.0

michaelnel - they are photos of the ferry building and the park nearby. the distortion is very evident at wide angle on this camera.. both are taken at its widest.
