Taken at noon actually, but the sun was just rising over the Ibex Valley in Yukon. The wind was also whipping up the snow on the mountain tops.

Sue,

They are all good, I like the colors. But how can you stand the cold? At least you had the rest of the day to warm up.

The pictures were taken from the deck of our cabin. Temps were about freezing level at the cabin that morning. Likely a lot colder on the mountaintops!

This is the typical sunset from the same deck with the same mountains in the distance. Somehow I never get tired of taking pictures of the sunsets either.

Did you just use the 100 - 400mm to capture the mountains in the distance? If so your lens does a great job.

uh...hmm...Those sunset's could lull you into a false sense of reality (lol)...oh wait, that's the point!

Great shot Sue!

Yes, the 100-400 does a good job. I don't hesitate to use it when in the mountains. It is a great lens ... maybe I have a stellar copy.

It also took this shot of Denali (a.k.a. Mt McKinley) which was 30 miles distant! One can almost see the footprints from the climbers :D

This with the 100-400 (and hand held) ...

This at 24mm with the 24-105 from the same location.

Nice Pics.

Yukon resident from 1987 - 1994.

You are living in photographic paradise. Took many trips up the Demptser and across the Top of the World Highway etc. Closer to you would be the drive from Whitehorse to Skagway (awesome).

Can't wait for you to show us the Aurora Borealis on this spot.
