I am sure it depends on what you want to focus on that day (pun intended), but what do you typically take for a general day of shooting.

I typically take three wide zooms from 10-200/250mm range, a fast-ish prime normal or short telephoto (which depending on mood or next lens) and a macro lens either normal or short telephoto depending the fast prime I brought (usually it is the opposite length). I also usually carry a 1.4X teleconverter, not really a lens.

For me this covers most conditions, any other lens I would bring depends on where I am planning to go, the conditions, and/or a specific type of shooting that I feel like doing when I first leave.

Again just the lenses for a typical/general, I to will take different when on a macro shoot, city shoot, and so on.

The closest similar thread I could find on this was “Show me your camera bag”, and that was not exactly what I wanted to know. If this topic is elsewhere or should be elsewhere I apologize that I brought it up again. Kind of wondering if I take too many lenses? I don’t think I do, so I wondered what others typically take. Thanks to all and have a good year.

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

My normal set of lens I bring every where I go is
24-105L
85L II
70-200L II

These basically cover my needs from day to day use. Thinking about possibly adding a wide angle prime also.

if I go out to just shoot and have fun then its usually the 24-70... though lately been playing with my 50mm prime. I try and just take one though unless I know there will be instances where I may want to shoot something specific.

even though it (usually) still falls under the "fun" category - anything business related or model sessions I take everything I own (don't have much really though, so its not all that bad).

Still learning (yes, newb) like some of you here, so please take any recommendations/opinions with that in mind.

My normal set is the 17-40L, 70-200L and the 100mm macro. I usually don't have an end goal in mind when I set out...

It depends on where I'm going and what I intend on shooting. Sometimes it's just one lens and other times I bring the whole bag.

I generally take all my lenses(in my sig), minus the 18-55 kit lenses.. never use them. I'd rather have too much choice, than not have what i want... as usually happens, when i don't take them all.

Usually two. Sometimes one if I'm not taking a bag. Almost always accompanied by a 580EX.
The most common is a prime of my choosing (24, 35, or 85) and a 24-85 to cover anything else. I like to keep my bag light.

That's general stuff. If I'm shooting racing or portraits, I'll bring the 70-200 along, again along with the 24-85 just to have the flexibility available.

Three

Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 OS
Canon 70-200 f4 IS
Rokinon 8mm fisheye

I also take a vivatar 2x TC
and 2-3 macro extension tubes (usually just two)

If I know I need a larger aperture then I'll throw the canon 50 f1.8 in the bag and take the TC out (unless I can make room for both)

One: the 16-35L II. I like wide, and it's an excellent walkaround for me.

Sometimes I'll slap on my 50 just to shoot low light/bokeh stuff...

I only ever carry two or more lenses when I'm going on a big trip.

Generally just the lens on the camera - I select what I want to take depending on circumstances.
If I carry the small bag with me, then there will be a second lens in the bag.
