I usually bring everything... 5 lenses.

If I am going ninja-mode then I'll sometimes take just the 16-35 or 24L and the 85L.

Usually two: 24 1.4 and 50 1.2.

I could certainly use more, of course, but i'd rather be nimble and have my camera with me more often.

My travel kit includes my 1D Mark IV and the following lenses:

50mm L (indoor low light shooting)
24-70mm L (general walk around shooting)
70-300mm L (distant and wildlife shooting)

For a one lens option the 24-70mm L best suits my needs!

Depends what I'm doing. Most of the time I have three in my go bag, and the rest in my car or somewhere close by.

And a couple more in the backpack. Sometimes you just never know what you're gonna come across, and I like to be prepared. It helps to be slightly insane too...

right now everything I own in my backpack (including the tripod), is 14 lbs. I am still waiting on one more lens (14mm Samyang). This includes a 200mm CZ I have yet to put in my Sig, because I am waiting on an adapter.

I plan on taking everything, and when I realize I never use lens (x), I will stop taking it (and probably sell it).

It used to be my 5D2 and my Sigma 50 and that was all I needed.

Finally I just stopped bringing it out for day to day stuff/walkabouts. Just got an S100 and now it's always with me. Used to be so anti-point&shoot but now it never leaves me. Can barely even feel it's there in my pocket.

In my bag is one 60D, with an EF-S 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS attached as "default."
Then there's the old EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III from the 1990s I don't know exactly why I bring along...
and there's the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II with a C-PL filter attached.
I added today the long-awaited EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM.

With the 430EX II, my small bag is *this* close to exploding, and weighs in at 4.5 kilograms. Not heavy compared to many out there, but never knew that my bag would become like this just after 4 years I picked up my parents' first point-and-shoot.

All the lenses in my sig. Debating on whether or not to keep the fisheye but it's a pretty fun lens to have.

I once was up for shooting a funeral of a friend's dad () when a photographer I knew came over and asked me to take on his 2 cameras on for a moment while he was up for pall-bearing. So there I was, lugging around my 60D with a Tamron, his gripped D70 with the 70-200, and another of his non-gripped D70 with a 17-55. It was heavy, especially in the pounding tropical summer heat. And especially with no special strap...

Which is why I use a Cotton Carrier: No weight on my neck or shoulders, no back, neck, or shoulder pain or strain. Obviously I was carrying a lot of weight, plus a backpack, and at the end of the day I'm not in the least bit tired...
