How many RAWs can this HD hold?

Found this 3.5" hard drive in a junk pile at work. What file format did we use back in 1996? Because non of my computers can read it..

Maybe around 50? As for file format, was it used with a Mac or PC?

The Western Digital Caviar 21200 used the EIDE harddrive controller (parallel) with 40-pin cable to communicate to this drive. It has

Kinda small for storing photos...

I am not going to use that drive, just curious what's inside. Around that time, our company was using NT, and we operate off some DOS terminal software, then Windows 3.1.

I've just got rid of my first hard drive. I could put one 7D raw file on it!

FAT32 if it was on a PC.
On a Mac...I just don't remember....

FAT32 is likely because of the size, around 900MB formatted.
FAT16 could have been used if the drive was partitioned. It's file allocation table, though, unless it was reformatted NTFS in the future.

I want to say that my G4 tower used FAT as well. I don't remember what the older PowerPCs called it, and I never shelled out for a HDD for my Apple ||GS.

It may have trouble reading it because the drive has crapped out. Track 0 failure or something similar. Try to re-format it and you'll know for sure. There's also the chance that the disk was wiped clean before your company tossed them, which would be the SMART thing to do.
