I am thinking about upgrading my monitor. have done several searches and alot of reading would like to upgrade but not waste money doing things that are wrong. I would like to know if I have this right, I currently shot in raw and have LR3 and CS5 set to RGB and using windows 7 with IE8. So if I upgrade to the dell U2410 (wide gamut moitor) and calabrate it using the spyder 3 pro, I would also have to upgrade the browser to IE9 or mozilla firefox in order to be color managed. Then provided I have LR3 and CS5 settings right I should be able to print, veiw on the web or another computer and it match my screen. (I know colors outside the sRGB gamut will not show up) Thanks for the help.

As far as I know, IE9 is not color managed. http://www.sevenforums.com …color-management-ie9.html (external link)
So you'd have to use FF. (Not a big problem IMO)

If you're editing in AdobeRGB, you'll see colors outside sRGB if they are in the displays gamut (and in the image), so I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence.

If you view images using a color managed application on a calibrated wide gamut screen, they will look the same as images viewed using a color managed application on a calibrated "normal gamut" screen. (Except the colors that are outside the latter screens gamut obviously)

I have an aRGB screen, a Dell 2711 that recently replaced a very high end sRGB CRT.

The Dell is nice because it has an sRGB emulation mode, so switching between them means I can see the difference in non-colour managed applications.
The difference is usually tiny and hard to spot.
It's so small I've kept using Chrome (which is non-colour managed) and don't notice the difference.

Editing in LR and PS etc is not a problem as they are both properly colour managed and in theory I can see more in LR as it uses ProPhoto RGB for viewing and editing.

My Eizo CG223W also has an sRGB emulation mode.
I use it if I want to view images without embedded profile in Safari, which is rarely.

But I certainly wouldn't call the difference "tiny and hard to spot"...
