No Birds in my yard!!!! Dang!!!

So we move to the northern Dallas area from CA, I put up the bird feeder and NOTHING. I mean absolutely nothing, not a single bird in four months has visited the feeder.

Then I spot this guy patrolling the neighborhood (lousy pic, was cloudy and couldn't get the shutter speed up enough). I don't know what he is, but I'm wondering if he's the keeping all the birds away....

Red Shouldered Hawk. I've heard these guys often sneak attack bird feeders.

That's a very pretty bird you captured Rocky.
I've got a couple of these behind my house and I think they do serve to scare songbirds away some (as would most any raptor), but they're too big and cumbersome to put a big dent in the population (that is done by the local accipiters).
