Looking for some quick advice on what to do here. Someone contacted me on giving/selling them a high resolution copy of one of my photos. The person happens to be flying the plane photographed at the time and wants it to make a copy to hang in his office. It's not a shot I really care about but if it came to it should I charge him and if so how much? Another option I guess would be to print it myself and ship it to him for money.

Sorry for the noob questions, first time selling anything really. Thanks.

Dont send them the file. Too risky.
Option 1 - print it off yourself or send it to a online photo store and ship to them - AFTER they have paid you.
Option 2 - Join SMugMug Pro, upload your photos, and point them to the gallery there.

Option 3 - Join a macro stock site (such as Alamy and Getty) and hopefully once accepted they can get a file but at an appropriate RF price and you have some protection in terms of copyright
Look after your digital assets

(Interestingly I have just been asked that very same query by someone who wanted to a copy of my photoo)

cheers, Paul

Why send him the file.
Just get a print done to the size he wants and charge accordingly.

Ask them what size they want, determine your printing and shipping costs, and mark it up to what you think is reasonable for your time and efforts. Notice no numbers....there are variables that differ to the above which are not known.
I do use smugmug with Bay processing.....I know my costs and shipping and can directly ship to buyer, or post it and mark it up and have them buy it. You can do it for whatever you think is appropriate....
For you, I would ask size and print it because I don't trust others printing my files ( ie walmart!!)
