Cheers, so the announcement could be anywhere from March to May!! If at all.

"If at all" is the truth. Basing any buying/selling actions on what CR states isn't a good idea.

everyone needs to sell their 5D IIs....When the 5D IIIs hit the streets, Canon corporate has a transmitter that will transmit to all current 5D IIs and make them start taking crap pictures

I heard that the transmitter was actually designed to render all of the MKII's useless altogether. [CR2] :(

I guess they hadn't quite perfected it yet when the 5D was released...because as far as I can see, the 5D classic still produces beautiful images long after the release of the 5D II ;)

Except that, with the 5D2, you can blow it up bigger while maintaining fine detail when viewed up close.

Makes no difference for most photography, but it's very useful for landscape and studio work.

I wouldn't bet on that being the case when the MKIII is released. It's days are numbered, as are the MKII's.

I still see breath-taking shots taken with 1D II series cameras, and there are 2 newer generations out. Obviously there will be hordes of people getting 5D IIIs because of camera lust, wanting the latest and greatest, because they have something to complain about with their current gear, etc.

my point was, cameras that take excellent photos now aren't going to change because a new body is coming out. Prices will drop, yes, but image quality won't suddenly take a turn for the worst.
