I usually post over at Fred miranda. But found this forum. wow. theres a lot of great work on here and a lot of great info and advise.

No way I can buy another expensive lens without trying it out first. I dont trust anything on spec anymore. I'm gonna take it out tomorrow in gloomy ireland and see what kinda joy it brings me on a 5D and a 550D. Gear List

If you confirm the ability to grab really nice hand held shots with it then that will help me decide as well. You would love the 400 f5.6. Its so easy to hand hold. I'll start a new post tonight when I get home. I'll post some of my hand held shots from my kayak this summer.
