cool shots, Troy!

yes, image size is fine, in fact you can go to 1024, and you are only @ 900.

very good shots troy. For me though, the colours are a bit oversaturated.

Welcome to the forum Troy!
Very nice set of eagles-in-flight for your 1st post, but I'd agree w/Tina that the colors are a little overdone.....eyecatching, but overdone.

Nice captures. The water may be a little on the blue side. Still nice though.

Thanks everyone for the great feed back. I just got my first camera last December. The more I look at it the colors do look over done . Post processing is not my strong suit. I usually post over at Fred miranda. But found this forum. wow. theres a lot of great work on here and a lot of great info and advise.

Yes there were shot with the 400 f5.6 and the 7D. I had to crop them a lot to. They were pretty far away.

you just made my day, i bought the 400 5.6 recently with the aim of getting shots like this (unfortunately no bald eagles in Ireland though) you should post these on the 400mm 5.6 thread too!

I have been thinking about the 400mm 5.6 and the 100-400. i am renting the 100-400 on friday then I will see if I can rent teh 400mm. that is the only way I will be able to make a decision. No way I can buy another expensive lens without trying it out first. I dont trust anything on spec anymore.

Hope to see your shots soon as well. If you confirm the ability to grab really nice hand held shots with it then that will help me decide as well.

you have the right idea no angle, my decision was made much easier by the 400mm 5.6 thread actually, there are some stunning examples there, and the knowledge that the prime is sharper made it much to hard for me to choose the 100-400, (i also already had 70-200 covered and own a 1.4x.) I'm gonna take it out tomorrow in gloomy ireland and see what kinda joy it brings me on a 5D and a 550D.

You would love the 400 f5.6. Its so easy to hand hold. I'll start a new post tonight when I get home. I'll post some of my hand held shots from my kayak this summer.
