Nice... headlights to light the saturn? Or did you strobe it? Looks like you used headlights...

I used headlights Andrew, I didn't bring anything with me really. I was invited to a party and they told me to bring the cam and tripod so I was like..ohh okay...<_< *confused

Maybe just add a little power of flash making sure it won't defeat the ambient light JUST to create a catchlight on my roxanne's eyes.

I think she's also almost in the center. off a little bit more would be nice. just me.

here's my version without permission:

Hmm I actually prefer the original version. I like the model in the centre and the colour is more natural, not artificially over-saturated.

you're right, it's a little overly saturated.

Guys have a question for you if you don't mind. I took a picture of my wife and son in full auto mode(the green box).

then i copied the settings and mimic them in manual mode. Both with flash. In manual mode, i even set the flash to +3.

the result was, the manual was way way underexposed.

My question is; what do you think the Auto did to make the exposure right? The metering was the same.

here's a picture for you to see.

if you can, please try to test this with your camera.

My best guess would be the flash.

In program mode, it transmitted the exposure data correctly. In manual, you forgot to hit the asterisk to transmit the exposure info... That's all I can think of. Your metering mode might have played a part. Either way, it looks like you didn't transmit the exposure info, to the flash (I'm assuming it's external). If it was the in camera flash, I got nothin'.

it's the internal flash and the metering was the same. let's wait for the others to wake up. try a test with your camera.

Starting by saying I haven't the faintest. That said, ETTL is a tricky and unpredictable beast. I was trying the other day to take a photo of the flash pattern of my 430EXII (I made one of the foam DIY bounce card/reflector). So I was shooting myself in the bathroom mirror.

I couldn't get it properly exposed no matter what EC/FEC I tried. Then it dawned on me that ETTL was metering the flash in the picture and stopping everything down. If I kept the flash out of the picture, the exposure was perfect. Of course, taking a photo of the flash was the whole exercise...

So I went to full manual and got it right with a couple of trial and error shots.

What your ETTL is seeing in the M mode is anybody's guess. That's why we go to manual for studio OCF photos.

Thanks for the C&C. I had to use natural light since the Einstein drained up the battery of my vagabond mini in no time.. Shot was merely a quick edit, I'll PP them correctly today, stay tuned :)

Another great shot Corey, how was the trip in Mexico?

Cool Buzzard that I got the night before last. They were feasting on something down on the ground.
