I read about sRGB vs aRGB some time ago, they made a big deal about it in Linux (something about color managed browsers as well, IIRC).

I just noticed that you guys are using LR, an Adobe product, so I thought that it would be natural to have aRGB as the default.

It would be nice if you could upload the same image both ways and compare, so we can learn something.

Thanks for that. I'll do that test tonight if a) I have time and b) I can figure it out. I'm new to LR.

I should post a crop of that pic too. I'm pretty visible in that bird's eye. 70-200 part deux is some sharp stuff

I like the color of Adobe RGB so i changed it even in Lightroom.

Guess I did that pic in CS5, and in the EXIF it says:

That mean aRGB?

I use the jf flickr plugin for LR and I checked my settings. They are saved in sRGB. I tried it both ways for the sake of learning.....see below.

Last time I checked... yeah! Recently transplanted here.

We have clear sunny skies and reasonable temperatures. Make a custom profile with increased saturation and sharpness (pretty much crank everything two notches above neutral and you will love the results... Enjoy your birthday.

aRGB (adobeRGB (1998)) export using jf flickr plugin...all other settings are identical.

They look identical to me in flickr but here the aRGB looks a little washed (look at the coach's red hat)??
I think I just didn't give them enough of the exp slider when I PP'd them originally as these don't look under exposed to me..

On my monitor the bottom one is much more pleasing to my eye - and more comfortable - the reds in the top one were uncomfortably too saturated but the lower is comparatively more realistic...

I use Adobe RGB in my software because it offers much more tonal range (vs sRGB) for printing, provided the printer you use has that range available. Google it - various videos out there - good ones.

I use Adobe RGB as well, more range for print. Are you using the built-in Flickr export thing from Lightroom? I think it converts the file that's uploaded to Flickr to sRGB. I don't have LR on my work machine so I can't check, but I think I remembered seeing that in the export settings for the included Flickr plugin.

I hate not having a pro account on flickr, or a smug mug account. This pic looks so much better on my computer than it does online. What do u guys think of this image. On my computer the eyes really pop.

I think it looks pretty good, you could probably have a lot of fun with edits on a set of photography like that. You know, going over the top on vibrance, contrast... making it almost illustrated like a fairy tale.
