I recently got a 60D and am looking for a flash unit. I purchased a Yn565 and had to return it because it was DOA. Now I cant decide between a Metz 50 and a 430EX II. I dont plan to do heavy strobist-type stuff. Just indoor candids. Any suggestions? The Metz is about $100 cheaper on amazon right now.

For indoor candids I think the 430 ii wireless system using the 60d is top notch. Check your local Craigslist for sure.

Usually I wouldn't settle for anything less than a Canon accessory unless it was a battery, a grip, or some sort of microphone or something. I think lenses and flashes are too important to take the third-party brand on. Just my opinion. I had the 430 EX ii. It was a perfect little flash with plenty of options and expandability, the only reason I don't have it still is because Cops don't like me and I had 550$ worth of a ticket to pay off :(.

And I actually love it now! I wanna start filming, but I'm not sure if the exposure issue also occurs in film mode.?

430EX II.

If you don't mind buying a refurb, it's $240 on Canon Direct.

Yeah that last shot is great, I like how he's looking right at you (or seems to be).

I can't say that the L wipes the floor with the EF-S 18-200 shot at f8 handheld. Impressed that at f2.8 I see the same sharpness...

Will see how well it does in the choir loft tonight.

This is what the 18-200 did last Sunday

Does the Metz support TTL off camera, or off camera at all? I really like my 430 EX II, it is a great flash.

QUOTED IMAGE

At f/8 most lenses look about the same. That said, I can see a big difference in chromatic aberration between these two shots.

The Metz does support TTL off camera.

Woke up this morning to a note under my doors, and others scribbled around the house. In the order I discovered them:

I've gathered that alcohol was involved. It was a humorous morning.

I'd write her my own note with a bottle of multi purpose cleaner attatched.

Well in about a year I'll be buying a new car when my lease is up...currently have an Altima SR, will probably be looking at another Altima or maybe the new Fusion, will have to give both of them a drive.

Well...I think that quote is actually part of a poem by JRR Tolkien..

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
