- use unique angles instead of the perspective we normally view at
- shoot macro (and, see above)
- convert to sepia
- shoot at night with low shutter speed
- razor DOF fun
- if there is no inspiration, obviously there is no fun. if there is no fun, would you want to see someone's 365 project? (daily for the past 3 months?) ... Put the fun back in your photography and inspiration will flow. Otherwise its perspiration and - why post... if it feels like work then a point is being missed. Even cancel the project and inject fun back into shooting. Or, don't.

just sayin

Inspiration. A word that has been giving me grief, for the past 3 months or so. Ughhh.

The source of my un-inspired-ness is my main issue. My love of the hobby, is still there. Macro, check. Sepia, I do that on occasion. Night shots, also on occasion. Before all of this other crap, in my life, started cascading down on me I didn't even have to try. The inspiration is there. It's just been taking a back seat, to other things.

I'm allowed to piss and moan about it :P

my bullet points were merely to suggest there are oodles of options to spice things up...

Life can suck. There is however a whole world of beauty out there and fortunately there are photographers out there with it - capturing it and sharing. Makes me feel better, anyways. Good luck and keep on keeping on

anyone use the 500D macro filter or Kenko tubes for macro work? If so - which lens do you use them with and how do you like the results?

Slacking off, from this, caused me to lose a few RAW's that were very special to me. Backup, backup, backup!

I use the Kenko's with my Tammy 17-50. I like the results, just fine. I'm sure that with practice, I'll like the results even more.

Just started a full backup to a new drive after your comment. I've lost an entire drive before and that's something I don't want to do again.

The crappy thing is that I only lost a few files. Everything else was redundant. It's just those few files that were most important, to me, though. Yeah. Not doing that, again.

I backup everything in triplicate: two drives on-site, one off.

Check out my feedback here.

Cobian Backup is automated (can be set to timer, day of week, or manual) - I have mine set to do an incremental backup 2x a day to an external usb 1tb drive for new photos/music/personal, and Lr4 settings/cache/catalog...

lost every original digital photo back in 2009... it was not pleasant.

I need to setup an offsite backup. The initial dump would be painful with my data cap but after that it wouldn't be too demanding and I'd feel safer.

That said, back to the 60D, first nice day I've seen in awhile and it's time to head outdoors and shoot!

Do you guys typically use one or three or different all the time?

The MFD gets cut to about 1/4" on my Tammy, with the 36mm tube. That's about as much as I can go without running into issues with the lens actually touching the subject lol. Don't quote me, on this. It has been a month since I messed around with them. It might have been the 20mm tube. /shrug

MFD was around 6" with the nifty 250 and one tube (forget which). With all three, it was like the Tammy with one tube.

I would consider the tubes a worthwhile investment, considering the cost of macro lenses. I don't regret the purchase, one bit.
