Very cool. How did you get the image onto the iPad?

CptTripps wrote in post #14228628 (external link)
Camera connector kit, comes with USB And SD card reader with apple 30 pin. iPad veiws my raw files no problem but only filter storm will open them without downsizing (22mp max) as far as I know. I like snapseed the most but it downsizes to 15mp, photoforge is the best for working with layers/masks but has a weird learning curve and also downsizes to 15mp.

Not perfect but pretty awesome for what it is, especially when your pc is packed for moving :(

This, except I used iPhoto to process it since Snapseed was giving me (user error) issues. Haven't heard of filter storm, I'll have to go look them up. However I'm not as concerned with full res from the iPad, if I deem the photo printable I'll end up doing re-processing and touch-up from the desktop PC anyway, but the iPad was REALLY handy so I didn't have to drag my laptop out.

have you viewed photos from your past edits on your iPad? do you agree that they look FREAKING amazing? I'm so blown away at how my edits look on the iPad. @_@

LOL, I guess we were on the same wavelength Immaculens... ducks on the brain....

Here's another, I missed a funny shot with this guy hanging lazily off the branch. When I started shooting he clenched up and held on like he was going into chameleon-mode or something. :)

with the blue water - were they taken in the morning or late day sun and added vibrance? I love blue water with low sunlight and clear sky...

I think it was about 12:30-1:00pm, and added vibrance. I tend to add vibrance a lot, to a fault sometimes, lol. :)

Agreed, 15mp is plenty for a little processing and post to web. I love it for playing around but it's no match for LR/PS. I've spent 15-20 seeing what was available and for the price I'm more than happy.

I'm in the middle of moving and was trying to do some masked layer work, things so easy in PS are ridiculously hard on iPad.

Here's the botched layer job I gave up on, will definitely be giving this another go once I get my computer back up.

Edit: with the latest update photoforge accepts whatever megapixel you throw at it, cool.

and if the client wants a bigger print of the image he/she like on one of what you did in iPad, you have to re-edit it in your PC, double job, double time wasted.

Only thing I would use the iPad for on a "paid" shoot is displaying photos through an eye-fi card. But honestly, filter storm is very powerful and does not resize, it's just not for precise selective editing. You can easily do adjustment layers etc, sharpening, nr etc. those things take minutes. For family/walk around web posts it's plenty.

Well, aim for a 5DmkII instead? Still a very good body, for half the price.

No way. The AF and the FPS (and somewhat the ISO performance, although that's not THAT improved) on the III is what's tripping my trigger. The II can't hold a candle in those departments.

Guyz,
I'm gonna have my second paid photoshoot. it will be like some candid shots inside starbucks. maybe some natural lighting. i might wanna use my flash but enough not to over power the ambient light.

I'm not sure yet if i'm allowed to use flash as there may be some other customers too.

I think my Siggy 30mm fits to this situation especially that we're doing it in the evening as the sun goes down.

Any suggestions or tips. thanks in advance.

Get next to a window and you won't need that flash, if they don't mind it would be nice to bounce a bit of flash if a window is not plausible. That Siggy is a pretty fantastic lens on the 60D and probably perfect for the job as you said. Maybe use a little fill outdoors at sundown with the sun at their back, I would definitely try something like that. In those situations bare flash works pretty well IMO.

Good luck!

I know it's obvious stuff but what I would shoot for. If you get anything like your working man set you are all good :)
