ETTR thanks.... it's something i just learned just now because of you. I knew it's better to overexpose i little bit than to underexpose to avoid noise but never heard about ETTR. i saw the thread for that here.

do you think i have to use my umbrellas if they allow us. My contact said we'll try to do it late when there's not much customer already.

thanks again.

Finally convinced family to let me play photographer at Easter yesterday. C&C welcome, thanks. Of note, Grandma doesn't live in the best neighborhood, so really tight crops are to hide hillbilly neighbors' broken cars, etc. :) Oh, and the sun was blinding and winds were occasionally high, but enough excuses:

Mom and sister:

Nice shots..on my screen the split toning, especially the red one, is a little further than I would go, it is making black shirts look purple and the shadows have an odd red edging going on. I like the PP on the last one the most.

Thanks for the input. You've forced me to finally learn what split toning is :) I knew something about the red tones were off but I wasn't sure how the presets I use did that. How about these edits?

in the ETTR discussion i made this...

i don't know if i did this right but the settings are...

F6.3 ISO12800 @42mm with a shutterspeed of 0.3sec handheld.
Lens used: tammy 18-270mm

all i did in lightroom4 was moved the exposure slider to -2.
here's the result believe it or not.

IMAGE: http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j325/vinmunoz/ettr-1.jpg

it's dusty but not noise. what do you think?

Just came back home.

Vincent, I think the results above are more than decent. I have a whole series from the Choir Loft which are shot at high ISOs.

Regarding your question about the umbrellas/flash. I am not sure how well you can blend flash lighting in a shop... I would take them with me, but I would do a test to see whether I get satisfactory results without.

Don't forget your tripod...;)

Good luck!

Mom and Dad at Easter - I did a slight adjust and crop. I really didn't want to to post process much on these. Yes, my dad has purple stains on his shirt but that's dad! haha
