While the Wife was checking out sunglasses today, I seized the opportunity to check out myself!

Will, have you look into getting into Flickr or similar for image hosting? You are murdering your pictures at 150kb :(

Ok, not being arguementative here - but I'm not understanding how Flickr is so great that you have mentioned this 2 times to me now. The first below is from Flickr - 1024 long end - 100% jpeg quality.

The lower one is not even 150kb but 135kb... 65% quality (same as previous post), now 1024 long - uploaded from POTN... does it look "murdered"? The best resolution we can see on the screen is 72dpi or in some cases 92 dpi.

If you think its a bad photo, thats one thing. But its now enlarged at the same "65%" quality" 92 dpi it was before and I don't think it looks 'murdered'... it is a little larger that the previous, that is all. There is no discernible quality difference I can see.

How have I murdered my image at 150kb (actually 135kb) versus the larger Flickr kb?

Well, I might have gone too big on using ''murdered''. As you know English isn't my first language so sometimes my choice of words might not be the most appropriate.

My point was, if my 1024px jpg file at 100% quality is around 1,5Mb, if I export it at 65% of it's quality, to pass the 150kb limit of POTN, you must lose something somewhere right? I agree with you, sometimes the difference isn't visible or very minimal, like in this case. But sometimes it can be night and day.

Another advantage of a hosting site is that if I like a picture you just posted, I could go see your whole album, there might be more of the same subject that interests me.

Last point would be server space, by using POTN as a host, we are using Pekka's space. That's why the picture limit is so small, he is the man paying the bills. He encourages us to host our picture somewhere else to ease the bills.

I'm sorry if I sounded mean, it wasn't my goal.

Well, it doesn't look murdered to me, but viewing it on a 1st gen. iPad it seems to lose some color range and saturation. Top photo has a bit more punch, not a huge difference but I prefer the one on top. My 2 cents. :)

Your English is pretty good - but ok lets say you meant "a visible loss of image quality"....

Apology accepted...We can all be 'hasty' and I understand that, so I will give you the "benefit of the doubt" as we say in English.
Cheers ~ Lets move on ;)

its interesting to view little difference (on my 20") between a Raw image that was exported to jpeg at 65% quality - 135kb...
- and - that Raw image converted to a 100% quality jpeg (approx 7mb) and both look quite similar - viewed on screen at 72 or 92dpi...

After some telephone tag with Canon regarding my shipping address, and then the long wait for Fedex....my 60D finally arrived! I got back home late from work today and need to wake up early tomorrow so I've only been able to play around with it for a bit, but there are two things that really stood out to me: 1) the comfort of the ergonomics, and 2) the weight of the body.

Man, compared to my T3i the grip is WAY better! For those on the fence between buying a 60D or the T3i, I think the extra money is definitely worth it for the ergonomics. The body is also noticeably heavier, but in the 30 minutes that I've played around with it, has not been a burden.

The shutter sound is also much different - caught me off guard, actually. I had heard youtube vids of the shutter sound, but it still doesn't sound like what it does live.

Still need to get used to the button arrangement and using the top LCD, though. But these are initial thoughts. Good night!

Day 101 - Not as sharp as I'd have liked. Was too tired to set up the tripod.
