Some are great for photos, others are not. JadeSky Photo Flickr

Apr 12, 2012 05:14 | #7009 So, my neighbor decided to store an old couch plus some plants in our hallway. She's nuts. Had to test out my bounce card skillz. As you can see, flare abounded. Also, disregard the reflection of that person in the window. I think it was a passerby. IMG_3702-1 IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/str0ntium/6924227962/ IMG_3701-1

I know its better than the 60D. I really like the focusing system and the FPS as well. I've always wanted a 5D2 but the 5D3 blows it out of the water its like a 5D2 and 7D made a baby and then some. Read countless tutorials and how to's already and if you can share some good ones, please do ![]() anyways, i tried to take some sunset photos yesterday and it was an epic fail, i think because we were on a hill but it is the only place i could think of an open space where i can see the sunset.. C&C most welcome, any help will be good, and advice please ![]() tried to get the star effect of the sun but couldn't get it.. epic fail! Congrats on the 60D you will enjoy it! Todd | flickr |

We need to always be aware of the background. Each person has a face half which is pretier than the other half. You have to snap a couple of quick portraits of the girl (since normally it's her that you wish to hoghlight in the photo) to decide which one is the desirable half. Then you compose the photos to have the pretty half showing. If the girl is a bit chubby (or wears flowing clothes like this one), try to avoid full frontal (or back) exposure. You don't want to have you client showing like the backside of a bus! I like the railroad photo where half the body is showing for this reason. A nice trick. Congratulations for an all around nice shoot. thanks MakisM1, some great tips there! https://www.tonyliuphotography.com.au/

I would start by reading Bryan Peterson's book "Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera" if you haven't already. I think it will answer some questions you have on why your pics didn't turn out the way you would have liked. I noticed from the exif info that it looks like you're just trying anything to get it to work. You really need to have an understanding of what you are going for so you know what settings to use to achieve that. Are you shooting in RAW or JPG and what are using for editing software? todd Thanks todd! I've read the book already but couldn't remember much on which aperture and ss to use. What i remembered mostly is the brother blue sky etc. and to use the smallest? Aperture available.. I couldn't get it to work then that's why i tried every option but still failed.. Lol! Also ive read some tips after trying the sunset shots and mostly they are teaching me to underexpose the shot about 2/3 to 1 stop.. Might try to do that and read the chapter on understandig exposure about light.. XD Gripped Canon 60D / 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 / 50mm f1.8 / 430ex II / 24-105mm f4L / 70-200mm f2.8L IS II

XD Well one comment I have would be to read it again and try to retain the information as it will only help you in many ways. Lets take the last shot in the set... f/11 was fine for that shot and even iso 100 will work...were you on a tripod ? Because at 1/50 and 1/25 for the 3rd shot and hand held, that may just be your problem. Todd | flickr |
