Another first-timer here after lurking for a few days. Just got a 60D a couple weeks ago as my first DSLR. Feels like a big step up from my G5 but I think I've already figured out maybe 8% of everything that this camera can do! Bit of an uphill climb from here.

Picked up some helpful tips already from reading this thread but after several days I don't think I'm even a quarter of the way thru everything yet. You're killing me here! I may never get to the last page at this rate!

I'll try to get a few samples posted here soon. Planning to get some outdoor concert shots tomorrow so I'm bound to get a few keepers from that. So far I'm stunned with the results I'm getting with the 60D, even with just the 18-200 kit lens.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

A lot of people pooh-pooh the 18-200 without ever having tried it!

It is a pretty sharp lens, with a bit of CA (seldom enough to be an issue). Ok, it's not the EF 70-200 L but it is a pretty decent lens.

The rotating LCD makes it so much easier to frame photos in a crowded place.

Warning - after seeing these photos you may be very hungry, I know I was! From Pike Place Market in Seattle:

I borrowed a friends ND filter (10 stop I think) on a trip to Hamilton Island last year. My first go using one.

Was fun! Comments welcome :)

EDIT: Guys I've noticed that I've not had one comment on any of my photos.. good or bad. Are they that boring? Bad? Am I being rude.. would love some feedback, as I'm super keen to be a part of this great community. Thanks!

i'll CC myself... i guessed the panning should go with the roads going down so that the blur effect is align to the road and to the car.

other cc please.

David,
Did you get a mk5 or a mk6?
it looks like the mirrors are Candy white, but I cant quite tell. Either way they are such fun cars to drive.

Wow, thanks everyone for your comments! I thought it was an ordinary shot, but I'm glad you like it!

Jeremy, I got a mk5 07, just chipped it Unitronic Stage 1+ a month ago. Very nice performance increase!
