It hurts to see that video. How much of it is broken? In the video, it looked like only the filter was damaged

In the video, it looked like only the filter was damaged The filter appears to be the glass that is shattered, but once I turned the on the light, you should be able to see taht one of the inner elements is completely detached and moving freely inside of the lens. The filter glass is broken and the front element has now been lodged into the filter ring, that's the reason I wasn't able to get the filter ring off. •••••••

I believe the entire lens is no longer round, as the hood won't even come off. The lens is destroyed. I'm so sorry about this!

I hope everything will turn out well eventuallyThe seller instantly refunded my money upon seeing the video... It still hurts though. That was a great deal and it probably will take a while to find another. •••••••

Jan 11, 2012 12:52 | #1225 I think it's safe to say that the bubble wrap used was ineffective. Lesson for the seller, I guess. Use appropriate bubble wrap for the size of the object. The bubble wrap with the huge bubbles would probably have saved that lens.

Jan 11, 2012 13:07 | #1226 I'd save my money and go with the Sigma. ~$600-700 used vs $1000-1100 used for the Canon. •••••••

I imagine the amount of force it took to break the inner element away from the mechanical parts inside the lens is pretty high... It's safe to say, that box took quite a hit/fall. •••••••

You're welcome. I know you really like it, but would like to suggest trying it at a different time of day. It will change the image so much. Sun at a different angle and camera on a tripod if you have to. What do think.
