Hi. I've just purchased 5d mkII and 24-105 lens, and I am curious what are 24-105 macro possibilities with extension tubes ?
Before I used 450d + 18-55 + reversed canon 50mm f1,4 FD and I got some pretty results with that:

I believe that now will be pretty hard to reverse some old FD lens on 24-105, because 24-105 lens diameter is 77mm and on FD is around 52mm. I think that combination will give me lot of vignettes ?

I am looking for some cheap macro options so if you can help me with the setup I will be very grateful.

Also how is 70-200 f4 IS combined with extension tube ? Can someone post some results with 70-200 or 24-105 with extension tubes ?

I'm using reverse 18-55 on APSC, its unbelievable macro lens.
If you can't use EFs on 5D I think best choice is reverse analog lenses with canon reverse mount and step up ring.
some analog and old lenses are very sharp. you need a wide range like 24mm for reverse.
using 70-200 with Ext Tube is not bad idea but yours is f4 and I think its not good .

Thank you for your response. I am interested in whether there will be any vignetting with the reverse 24mm and how much magnification will be ? Do you have any recommendation for the lens?

Sorry for late answer, 24mm is very good lens for reverse I have not it but you can found many samples with 24mm reversed on the net.if you have and old 24mm with manual aperture control, just start and you will surprise. I guess you will got 3:1 magnification on 24mm.
