It's amazing when sigma comes out with a new version of the Sigmalux its like the old version has leprosy now. All the want to buy threads now specify new coating only. Has there been any conclusive proof that the new version focuses any more accurately?

Well I for one think mine focuses fine as long as I use care when shooting at low apertures. Makes you wonder if its a case of 'The next best thing' or an actual improvement on an already stellar lens?

Maybe, or maybe it's the coating...

The old coating looks cool in a magazine, but dealing with it in the field is a pain.

There is no difference in the design, just the outer coating....I have an old one, but, prefer the new coating...But, mine is awesome, and....not having any problems with the old coating, not peeling or anything....
and...
I'm not selling it any time soon...so....who cares really..lol

Well that clears things up. Word in some forums is that sigma updated the chip to help with focus accuracy. My thinking is that big aperture lenses require careful focusing for best results below f4 anyway.

I hadn't used mine in a while so I took it out yesterday and grabbed a few quick photos. It's still a great lens old coating or not.
