Taken using a film lens Canon FD 50mm f1.4 with Nex5n. (Manual focus)

I tried to salvage the photo using LR3, bec. the car`s windshield glass degrades the image quality add up a crappy rainy day into the equation.

Let me know what you think...

just looks like a snap shot with no subject to me, not sure what you were trying to salvage.

I just find that little creature very strong inspite of the rain and wind bombarding him. It was just hard to capture that rain and wind gust currently hitting him...

I like it! Quite an interesting concept.

The bird, standing out in the parking lot, is just too dumb to come in out of the cold rain. The loss of IQ because of the windshield doesn't concern me. I would expect some artifacts on the glass that I would keep between me and that weather...that glass would by my living room window or a car window.

I'm not sure where the sharpest focus is. I think it would be best on the bird, but I think the focus is sharpest between the bird and the parked cars.

The B&W, either converted or native, does a great job of making the day feel as cold and dreary is you captured (and is outside my window in Ohio today).

Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

This is the jpeg file straight from the camera. Freakin tough to manually focus the tiny bird and still follow the rule of third... So what I did is focus on the bird then re compose... I only have a the 50mm prime FD Canon lens.

I find the capture bland & unappealing however your post processing is a great improvement on the original.

I do consider this shot a snap shot since that's what I did. Quick shot.

But if you add this verse to the picture.... It becomes a powerful picture for Christians...

" He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved." Psalm 62:6

It doesn't become anything, we can't see any sign of wind or harsh conditions, just a bird standing there.

I just read your signature and wanted to say that I don’t see a lot of 19-year olds with that kind of equipment here :D
I’m 21 and got some good stuff that came out of my own pocket :)

Good idea! ;)

I also think the the white vignette did not help. It makes the rain look tamed.

Yeah mine's out of my own pocket too, 1D II, 5Dc, 24-70 2.8, 135L on the way, 70-200 2.8 until recently trying to decide what to replace it with, and a 16-35L. Also ab800 and some cybersyncs. I need to go all primes, though, and go to the 5D II.

A picture like that would never make it to my computer, one for the trash bin.

Oh wow.. your lens setup was just like mine! I had the NON-IS 70-200 and a 135L and I sold both to get my hands on the 70-200 II.
My suggestion for you to do the same, TRUST me. You will thank me later. The 70-200 II is OUTSTANDING in every aspect. Don’t try to fool yourself with “all primes are better than zooms” - not with this new 70-200 II. It’s TACK sharp at EVERY aperture. Plus, the IS is WOW. I would NEVER think the IS helps that much.
I had keepers at shooting subjects at 1/20th of a second at 200mm at f2.8!! What lens would do this?? Even my 135L wasn’t as good as this beast :)
This is just my advice to you, I went through the same setup and ended up with 70-200 II and now trying to add a 50L or an 85L next weekend :)
