I'm currently on my way to Africa to shoot wildlife and landscapes, and my Better Beamer blew away in the wind!

I will be passing through Singapore this afternoon (Singapore time) and have a 12-hour layover - does anyone know any good camera shops there which would sell the Better Beamer, or a similar flash extender? Location and MRT stop would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Shadowblade,

If you don’t have any luck in Asia on route (and I find that not many retailers in North America have that somewhat specialized item), so perhaps you want to order on-line when B&H PhotoVideo www.bhphotovideo.com (external link) in New York City opens Saturday at 6pm Eastern Standard Time (in approx 3.5 hrs) and have it Federal Express couriered to your hotel in Africa. Then telephone hotel concierge a small package is coming for you. (I have done this occasionally on business trips, as I am sure you have too when travelling).

I assume this below is the one you are looking for (I have this for my Canon 500f4L with 2xTCmkIII)
VISUAL ECHOES FX3 BETTER BEAMER FLASH EXTENDER For TELEPHOTO LENS (Mfr # FX3; for Canon 580EX & 580EXII):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …X3_Better_Beamer_for.html (external link) $ 38.95 USD
LENS BAG for BETTER BEAMER FLASH EXTENDER (Mfr # LCBKBK):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …per_Pouch_for_Better.html (external link) $ 19.99 USD

Your inconvenient experience perhaps highlights why the manufacturer provides that additional velcro to adhere to the bottom of the flash head to keep the strap securely in position (something I have not chosen to use, but now maybe will).
Good Luck and have a fun trip, as I am sure with your gifted photographic skill you will get some great beautiful images (with or without the Better Beam Flash Extender)!

MARY

Cathay Photo - according to their website they're the sole distributor of Visual Echoes products.

They have 2 locations:

Peninsula Plaza (main store) and Marina Square (newer branch), both are in the City Hall area of the CBD. Closest MRT to Peninsula Plaza is City Hall MRT, 5 minute walk away.

Marina Square is 10 minute walk from City Hall MRT through Citylink Mall (underground) or you can take the Circle Line to Esplanade MRT which connects to Marina Square.

Hope you find what you're looking for, and enjoy your brief stay in Singapore! :D

Their outlet at Peninsula Plaza is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays,so you'll need to visit the Marina Square outlet.

Yeah, I figured that out once I got there.

But it turns out the one in Marina Square was closed too...

The airport terminals won't have it, it's pretty specialised equipment.

Anyone happen to know if I can pick it up in Victoria Falls or Cape Town?
