Hi all.. I recently bought a sigma 17-50 2.8 as a walk around/portrait lens.. I'm very happy with it but the 2.8 doesn't give me the bokeh I'm lookin for (plus I usually tend to shoot around f/4 as that's it's sharpest) and I also find the 50mm a bit short for head an shoulder portraits...

I am looking to add a prime to my collection and was thinking the canon 85mm 1.8.. I have a 550d so 85 might be a bit to long.. I was also thinking te sigma 30 or the canon 1.4

Tell me your thoughta

the 85mm 1.8 is a great portrait lens if you're on a crop [or a FF, its a great lens]
but why not get a 70-200mm 2.8?

I would love the 70-200 but that's very much out of my price range! Haha

450 or so for the 85 sounds just about perfect :)
