Here is my first try shooting at the local skatepark. I was told that I needed a helmet and skateboard or roller skates to be in there. I went home and grabbed my old skates and a helmet and threw them in a mesh bag. I just laid the bag and my feet while shooting and apparently that was fine.

C&C requested. Thanks for looking.

Decent action and love the colors...Pointer for ya...try to get into position to help make the skater/rider look more extreme in what ever stunt they are doing. This will give extra height and exaggerate the overall stunt...
A few examples:

Nice work. Some skaters are real sticklers and don't want photos posted of bail shots. Numbers 5 and 7 appear to be bail shots. I know he's just a kid but something to consider for future postings.

I know I usually delete shots that weren't made, right on the spot, as to not entice me to post them later. Sometimes, I will keep a shot that they didn't make if the shot looks good and after they eventually make the trick will get permission to post the previous shot that they didn't make.

But otherwise, good work!

Very true.

Also need to include where the skater is coming from and landing, otherwise they could be on a trampoline putting the board under their feet for all we know. The focus is dead on and the color looks great too. Try to stay low, laying on ground if necessary to get a better angle, as HIghPixel was saying. Skateboarding is a little different than most sports shooting when it comes to the tight composition, it requires a little more information of what is going on. I find myself having the opposite problem when I'm not shooting skateboarding and then having to crop a whole lot. Good luck and hope this helps a little.

Nice work, I would like to see more of a blue sky instead of the blown out ones, but great shots of the skaters!

Great info guys, thanks a lot. I will probably use flash next time so I can get the sky too.

I never would have considered whether or not they landed the trick, thanks for raising my awareness of that.
