If you want to upgrade later, then keep what you have and upgrade the body later. I would never go back in quality of my lenses for a better body. -Jeremy

I love the nifty but not that kind of trade. You have a similar setup that I was contemplating before getting the sig 50. 5D*Sigma 50/1.4*EF 17-40/4

Where as 5d vs 5dmk2 you're mostly losing bigger screen, video, and megapixels you don't really need tbh. Gear: 5D2 + 17-40mm F/4L + Sigma 50mm F/1.4 + 70-200 F/4L IS

This was my biggest gripe. "I have applied for jobs at National Geographic, Sports Illustrated and Playboy. The phone should start ringing any minute now" (Curtis N)

Jan 01, 2012 05:04 | #8 5D2 upgrade is worth it, but with rumors heating up about the 5D3 release announcement it may be worth it for you to wait at least until specs are official. Maybe you'll want to get it instead of the mk2... 5D4 | 8-15L | 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS | 24L II | 40mm pancake | 100L IS | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mk2 | 400mm f/4 DO IS

EOS R & EOS 5 (analog) with a gaggle of primes & 3 zooms, OM-D E-M1 Mk II & Pen-F with 10 primes, 6 zooms, 3 Metabones adapters/speedboosters, and an accessory plague

One spends over $2K on a camera for its capabilities, and is willing to tie one of the cheapest lenses out there to it- as their only lens. I just don't get it. It just does not make sense. Why? Because the 5DII wont be around as a new camera for much longer. People say wait for the 5DIII but i say get the 5DII while its still avalable. The 5DIII will probably cost alot more. and yes glass is the most important, but the nifty fifty is practically a disposable lens that makes the camera useable until the OP can afford a better lens. I dont see anything wrong with that The most important piece of gear you own, resides in your head and its called your brain.
