Made a stop off at Fall Creek Falls State Park in Pikeville, TN in the early morning to break the monotony of a 900-mile road trip. Nice little gem of a park, just didn't have enough time to fully explore. If you're ever in this area (somewhere between Nashville and Knoxville), it'd be worth a visit:

I love that place. Did you manage to hike down to the base of the falls? It's unreal how big the falls are when you are down there. Nice shots!

I live fairly near. Most people around dislike the park--It's not the highest falls around. It's also one of TN's only resort parks. It's not as nice as half the others around. The falls is controlled by the lake - not really natural. It wouldn't be a stream proper without the lake.

All of my works staff meetings were held there for the past previous years.

Enough of my complaining!

GREAT SHOTS! Esp. like the light in number 2.

No, didn't get much farther than where I was at due to the time factor. The good light disappeared rather quickly due to heavy clouds (and I still had 800+ miles to go). ;)

I was the only person there, believe it or not. Meant to get to the cable hike, but just didn't have enough time. I think the park has some promise for shooting opportunities...must be great in the fall. Just not sure when I'll be back that way...I was on the return leg from a road trip to the northeast and needed to get some stock shooting in and decided to give it a go.

Good shots. This is one of the better state parks I've visited, with several large waterfalls and good trails. When I was there a couple years ago, that part of TN was actually flooding in places. The waterfalls in this park were really too big to look their best.

Really like the first one. Need to get to TN sometime. My great-great grandfather died there while guarding the railroad as a member of the 357th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War.

Very nice shots. I think I like the first one a bit more composition wise, but I really do like the soft light hitting the trees on the far bank in the second.

Well Stan, if anyone anyone been there my first guess would have been you, considering how much you get around. :D Just wish that I had more time to spend there.
