It was 75 degrees on December 31, and we took advantage of this great weather with a zoo trip. I shot a few pics of my daughter; I value your critiques as I am an amateur looking to improve. Thanks!

Really like #2 .. try and clean up the face a little in PP.. background is a bit under exposed.. and the the vertical lines arent vertical ... try cropping it so the fence is straight see how that looks

Your daughter is very pretty. You look like you do the same thing that I do and that is cropping to close to your subject. Since it was a zoo trip maybe try to incorporate the zoo with the portraits. The third image is a tad more yellow than the first two, I am not an expert so I hope I was able to help.

3. nice - looks soft though. Could be sharper
2. looks a little warm - missed focus
1. bad cropping - could have been better.

please include your EXIF info - this should help in C&C. Even the kit lens handheld should be theoretically sharper than what has been posted here. Its a start - shoot lots of pics is what i usually say to a new dslr user.

And you have a cute kid - you should do justice to her photos.

Thank you! That is helpful. I always have a problem with focus. I have tried everything that I know to do, but this is as good as I can get it. I think I need to take some lessons :)

Are there any cropping "rules"?

Thanks again!
