Hi all,

Our Bluebird family had both good fortune and bad in 2011. Four nestings which fledged 5 for 5 in the first nest, just 3 of 6 in the second... a third nest of 5 eggs lost to a House Wren, and a fourth nest which once again fledged 5 of 5. So, 13 successful fledgings from 4 nests... and we count them all as blessings.

Anyway, we're sure happy to report that as of Jan 1st 2012 we still have Missy and Ben and 8 of their fledges here in the yard. And they've been kind enough to pose for some pictures to share with everybody here.

Ben (Father)

Missy (Mother)

It wouldn't be a proper ending to 2011 not to have a photo synopsis of Bluebird activity in Kenn & Temple's backyard. Radiant images Kenn... your stunning Bluebird and backyard bird photos are a staple of the "bird forum"... hope to see many more of your "friends" in 2012.

All your bluebirds and their respective captures are wonderful Kenn! It's great that you can keep up with them the way you do.
BTW - the little ones look like chips off the old block....so to speak - :)

Thanks all,

Sharing our birds always adds to our joy of them, and we really appreciate all your comments.

We've got more of last year's fledges still hangin' around here this January than in past seasons, but it's only a few months now before the 2012 nesting season will be upon us. We'd gladly keep 'em all, but they'll be on their way pretty soon, and we just hope Missy will be up for another round come Spring.

Thanks again everybody, and stay tuned. :)

Kenn
