Amazing how much reach 1000mm gives you

Still haven't had a chance to take it out on a real shoot yet but I am excited to.

Excellent demonstration. Is that lens still in production?

That is impressive reach. Super sharp as well. Nice shot. I would love to be able to buy a lens like that. Does the AF still work? Or is that why you had to stop it down to F13 to get it to work. The 2x TC adds 3 stops correct?

Thanks

It adds two stops, which since the lens is a f4.5 makes it F9. So no AF, whereas the IS version would @F8 on a 1-series body. With a tripod and liveview the manual focusing isn't too bad though. On stationary subjects of course. I stopped it down to F13 to retain sharpness since I had plenty of light to work with.

Very nice Bill, impressive detail and sharpness with the 2X for sure. Looks like you've got a good collector lens that's obviously up-to-the-task.

very nice. I think you need something longer than the 500 though. Send it to me as it is perfect focal length for me :)

Thanks guys, it is definitely quite the lens.
A 'little' bigger than my 400 5.6, but clearly for different purposes.

Super shot! When I see shots like this I try to ignore what lens was used. It somehow lessens the "drool". :) I said I "try". :D

... does it really matter?i see with my eyes, i shoot with my fingers.
