Very nice on your last edit. I like the lower saturation and the removal of the rock. This really brings out the texture, wood colors and shadows. Well done.

if you would like to create a little more visual contrast select the background and apply a cooling filter with just a touch of opacity. This will shift the color palette for the background and the subject will gain contrast.
