Woke up this morning and could not find my S95. Remembered I last had it in the car and sure enough, I left it in the car overnight. It was about 18 degrees overnight and even though it was in a case my S95 was cold as ice.

I brought it in to "thaw" out but does anyone have other suggestions or areas I need to pay attention to???

It'll be fine if you leave it in the case until it comes up to room temperature. If you take it out of the case before the temperature normalizes you will have moisture problems due to the condensation.

Might want to put it in rice so that it can absorb any condensation/moisture from the "thaw"

lil' late for this, but putting it in ziplock bag before bringing it indoors would have reduced condensation. Either that, or doing a slow transition from freezing temps back into the warmth.

The manuals for the cameras say to just put it in a plastic bag until it hits room temp. Any condensation would then form on the bag, not the camera.

In general, though, it's not going to be a problem. I accidentally leave devices in my car (or just use them outside in the cold) all the time and don't really worry about it.

Happens every year about this time to a lot of people. You will be just fine if you exercise some patience in the re-warm time it requires.

We shoot outdoors all winter long and have for years.
Don't waste time and energy wiping lens faces.

good shooting

A 40D, a 30D, some nice glass and a great Shooting Partner.
