Wonder if R103 can hold a 17" Dell XPS laptop....

I don't think u can slot in 17" laptop. Maybe 14" can...

I can squeeze 10" & 5.5" laptop into it but I will leave it empty so that there will be extra cusion for my back when putting a 1Dmk2 + 300mm f2.8 IS L + 50mm + 580ex + extra cam battery etc... if without the hood, I can squeeze another 17-40L or 70-200L easily...as my VAIO u8 can hang around my waistline with the default pouch...hope this info can give everyone here have a idea how useful this bag can be...

SYS, I just saw this thread or I would have responded sooner. I have the Kata R103 and love it. I agree with with rklepper that this bag is much better than any other that I have used or looked at.

As for the laptop, it will not hold my Dell Precision M70. (I can stuff it in there, but it stresses both the laptop and the bag so I don't use for that right now.) It is sized for a 15" laptop.

If you have any other specific questions, let me know.

Thanks to you (and John Tan). My Kata R103 is on its way, so I'm really looking forward to using it.

I'm reading this on the XPS 17" that I got off e-bay.

Are you sure you want to carry this heavy thing with all the camera gear? :D

Drop the laptop squeeze in another L.

I have used Lowepro and Tenba packs in the past and for me they don't compare. The Kata fits much better, ergonomically it's lean and mean. It's built like a tank and doesn't look like a photo pack. The other great feature is the zipper in the middle of the pack that allows you to just remove the camera with lens attached and not open the entire pack.

I'd like to hear what you think about it.

My review on both the Kata T-212 and R-103 is posted in a separate thread. Like you, I really like the feature that allows you to zipper open in the middle to just get to the camera with lens attached without having to open the whole bag. It's built like a tank but very light. I'm going to order another bag from the Midwest Bags, the Holster H-14. I'll then use all three in combo (two or all three on or just one) depending on the job.

I'm really surprised that Kata isn't as well known as either Lowepro or Tamrac. In fact, it's hardly known at all while it's definitely superior over anything I've seen so far.
