The forum is littered with people who've debated the same.. and the camera is still yet to even be announced. Hopefully that should help you out.

It was the fear of getting knocked down by a bus that did it, wasn't it!!

Waiting on a rumor is not a good idea, you might find yourself disappointed. Get what you need/want now.

Definitely go for the MkII. It really is a great camera and it might be another year before the MkIII comes out and you might be in a completely different financial state than you are now. Imagine the heartbreak when it finally comes and you cant have one, not nearly as heartbreaking if you've got the MkII already. I was in a similar position october just gone, and if I'd decided to hang on I wouldn't be even getting a 5D2 now.

To upgrade or not to upgrade is a question you should always ask yourself.

#1. Does my current camera/cameras work for me?
#2. What is it that I need to do that my camera won't allow me?

Once I can answer these two question then I can decide what camera I need or if I need to wait longer for another version. I think without asking why you need to upgrade or change camera, you are just changing for the sake of changing something new.

narlus/tinnitus, that is an impressive site you have there, some great bands you have photographed, and so many of them. I was particularly interested in the Psychic TV and Throbbing Gristle ones. I haven't seen Genesis P Orridge for about 26 years, and not sure if the was actually amongst them. An old friend of mine, now sadly departed, Jeff Nuttall introduced me to Genesis, they collaborated on a number of performances and art happenings in the late 60's.

Sorry for dragging the thread off topic, I shall retire and spank myself!!!

OMG! I cant believe this question still been asked. This question pop up every few weeks.

I been at this spot over 2 years ago and 2 kids were born since. Every question ask and everyone say "it is coming. Next week, next month, end of the year"! Well. its over 2 years and NADA! If I've waited? I would have miss the picture of my 2 kids at birth and birthdays. Even if I have 5,000 to spend today, I wont able to capture those precious moment again.

If you have the money today? Buy it and enjoy it. Dont let the moment pass you by.

Sorry to ask a clearly often asked question. I certainly should have searched a bit harder. That being said, my situation is slightly different considering I don't NEED the new body and it's more that I want it. I have two perfectly good bodies, so it's not like I'm going to miss any "moments" in life. I do appreciate all the responses thus far.

I think I'll pull the trigger on the MKII anyway. Not that it means anything at all (because clearly it doesn't), I just feel slightly strange upgrading to an older body then I currently own (the 7D). I do realize each will perform better in their own areas which is why I plan to keep the two as a duo.

Now....to get the body only, or the 24-105L kit?

thanks so much! I met Genesis and Lady Jaye, sadly just a few months before she passed away. PTV3 is still going, they just did a show in NYC. Unfortunately TG looks like it's over w/ Sleazy's passing.

back on topic, just get the 5D2, it's a brilliant piece of gear and will serve you far better than vapor ware. I've been using a 5D2 for the last three years and aside from the AF i have zero complaints (that said, center point works well enough).

I'd go for the 5D2 if you can right now. It's not certain that a 5D3 is even coming out.
