I have a dilemma Im hoping the more experienced can help me with. I currently have the 16-35L mk2 and the 24-105L IS as my 2 primary lens I use the most, both about equally. I need to get rid of one, so I can only pick one. Now my concern is sharpness of these 2 lens.

In my own experience, photos Ive taken with the 105 is much sharper than the 16-35L, and all of my favorite shots are done with the 105L. I honestly dont like most of the photos with the 16-35L, most cannot be used because they simply are not focused. The amount of keepers I get with the 105 is around 70% while with the 16-35 is around 20%. I would love to keep the 16 because I need the F2.8, but damn it my copy of 105 is just so darn sharp!!

Is it possible that I just need to send my 16 in to get it calibrated? Ive only had it for about a month, and the 105 for about 2 months. If I can send the 16 to get calibrated because its suppose to be as sharp if not shaper than the 105, then I will keep that and get rid of the 105. I just wanted to hear some experience from you guys because I really want to keep the 16 and get some tack sharp images with it, but the 105 is giving me all my favorite shots :(

2 completely different lens. You shouldn't judge them based on sharpness.

16-35 is an UWA whereas 24-105 is a general walkaround. Enough said.

Personally i'd keep both or downgrade the 16-35 to 17-40.

Im trying to understand you. I know they are 2 very different lens but when shooting the same subject, I just feel that my 105 is just much sharper every time. Even at the same focal lengths. I know Im a newbie at this so haha forgive the idiot questions.

You shot both at f4, yet the one with 16-35 is iso 400 vs iso 200???

Framing is different too....if you really want to compare, shoot it at the same focal length, aperture and iso.

Bottom line is, when you need 16-23mm, you need 16-35. 24-105 is not gonna give you that;)
