I think my mama would still scold him for playing with his food. :-)

The Feds are back to work, but no way to get to work because BART unions are going on strike tonight. The hits just keep on coming...

Isn't jetcode a pet name (LoL)

I always really liked Kodac VPS. VPL for really long exposures and filter to correct color.

Fuji 160 NS is really good film for this kind of color work. I like the warm cool color thing you have going here Joe. This would rock in a print 6 ft wide..

I never was a velvia fan. Loved Kodachrome for transparencies. I had a few rolls of Kodachrome 64 120 in my freezer until a few years ago.

Everyone should know by now I am the resident contest psychotic LOL.

This is a 800mb 16 bit color file. It's 70" long at 300dpi. It took a whole day just to dust the scan. Another 2 days to really find the correct luminance levels and color balance. This film does not handle blue like a digital camera (where blue is the weakest channel). With film blue is in your face like all the other colors. I was amazed at how much color was available in this capture. No Bayer filters the scanner has a Kodak tri-linear 8000 pixel sensor; one row for each color.

Velvia works best in fog. That's when the saturation pays off. The dynamic range and the fact that the Fuji 160 is really flexible in exposure really pays off though I have found that my scanner is less flexible. My scanner does best with nice meaty negs which means I set the ISO to 80 rather than 160 and I may still open up a stop. One thing I thought was great advice from Bruce Barnbaum I believe is to set zone III (at the toe) to zone IV and print down to zone III. You get far greater shadow detail and more contrast in the detail.

Bruce Barnbaum on zone IV.

Very cool. I have a pair of '72 SG 250's and a 2011 Purple Quilt Top LP standard. The LP smokes. I should take a shot and post. My first Gibson in '73 was a SG-250 off the shelf. They only made 500 of the sunburst model and it was a big miss for SG fans who loved the fast slinky SG from the 60's. Your LP looks like an early 80's model, '82 or so. Was this an original you bought way back when?

$20 is nothing for us, you are right. But right now, wife is furloughed with the shutdown, so we have stopped all non-essential costs for now, since we don't have her income.

I'll cover the the $20...seriously.

Yeah, it's an '85, I got it in '86 my buddy managed a Guitar shop and someone brought it in for trade....Seems to get a little better every time I pick it up...
Lately I've been digging my Fenders though, bought 2 new deluxe's in the last couple months, a Tele and a Strat....The craftsmanship is amazing...I'm very impressed.
